Happy Mother's Day To All The Mums
Happy Mother's Day to all the mums, the mums who were there from the beginning, the single mums, the mums who are no longer with us, the aunties, grandmas and friends who stepped in and became mums, even the fur baby mums.
My mum always said to me “being a mum is a full-time job with countless hours of overtime”, to which 13-year-old me responded, “but you don’t even get paid, you cleaned my dirty nappies once, you sit up with me in the middle of the night when I am being sick into an old ice-cream container and you get angry at me when I wear my dirty shoes onto the carpet because then you have to clean it”. Of course, mum laughs at me and even probably for a second thought, wow she’s right I need to speak with the manager! But then she responded with this, “I can top your 3 yucky things with 10 of the things that make this job more rewarding than any amount of money”.
Now, I am not going to list everything my mum told me because she actually did go into detail with 10 things, and I know that’s just because she had to prove she was right (typical haha); however, I also knew in that very moment that I was and will always be my mums most precious gift. Until I have my own kids, I don’t think I will ever fully understand what she means but until then, she is a pretty amazing role model, and I will always have the utmost respect for all the mother figures out there, because hey, your jobs aren’t easy!
At The Nanny Diary, we are very lucky that we get to work alongside so many amazing and hard-working mums, but we also can’t forget about our own amazing mums! I asked some of our nannies what it is that makes their mum so great, and along with their adorable photos, this is what they had to say… enjoy!

"My mum has continued to be my rock from day one, despite our differences she continues to support me on my journey. She loves watching me grow and loves hearing the positive feedback from other families about my day with their children. I hope to one day be as good a role model to my own children as my mum has been to me”
Indigo
“My mum is the most gorgeous person inside and out; she is everything I aspire to be. I am thankful every day to have had a woman like her to look up to throughout my whole life. I am very lucky to have her”
Casey
“My Mum is everything I could ever want or need. She's the calming voice during times of stress, the guiding hand during times of uncertainty, my biggest supporter, my shoulder to cry on, my gin-loving companion, my partner on the dancefloor and the arms I still want to curl up in when things get tough. I'm one of those lucky kids who was gifted not just a wonderful Mum, but a best friend, who's by my side throughout all the highs and lows of life"
Danielle
“My Mum is someone who will always put others before herself unless you’re playing Uno and then she’s just ruthless. She has the ability to make you feel so safe and so special. She’s taught me to think before I speak (not an easy task for a lil Italian like me!), to always consider other points of view, and how to make the best meatballs in the world”
Taryn
“My mum is simply amazing. She is always there for a hug, laugh, chat or an espresso martini. I will never take this love & bond for granted”
Kate M
